Virtual Art Tutorial Event
This year marks the centennial of the ratification of the 19th Amendment, giving women in the United States the right to vote. The Museum of Durham History would like to invite you to celebrate this right to vote and gear up for the upcoming election on Nov. 3 while participating in the arts, with a virtual art tutorial on Saturday, October 3rd from 11 am – 1 pm. Supplies will be available for participants through our registration form, where each registrant may select a pick up time slot for their FREE art kit in the week prior to the event. Click here to register.
We will be joined by Durham based artist Natasha Powell Walker, as she walks us through a step-by-step guide to painting one of her original designs. This design will feature an abstract image of a woman voter, centering around our theme of women’s suffrage. Each participant (all ages welcome) will end the event with their very own canvas painting celebrating the role of women in U.S. politics. Special thanks to Durham Arts Council and NC Arts Council for their support of this event.
