“Durham’s Early Jazz and Swing” exhibit opening
Join us on Friday, July 5 from 6-8PM at the Museum of Durham History as we celebrate the opening of our fourth community curated exhibit, Durham’s Early Jazz and Swing. Durham’s vibrant jazz community is as old as jazz itself – Durham’s Early Jazz and Swing will explore the history of this community in the decades leading up to World War II, highlighting the rise of Piedmont Blues, Duke University as an incubator for student traditional jazz and swing bands, and the big band stars who would perform in Durham on their national tours. We will have live music and dancing under the Museum’s gazebo!
