4 by 50: Turning Points in Durham History- Part 1
Tuesdays, July 21 & 28 | August 4 &11, 1:00 p.m.
The Museum of Durham History and Durham County Library present a four-part live web series that captures today’s issues, framed in the context of Durham’s history in 50-year increments. The four parts will look at: 1. 1869—1917 | 2. 1918—1964 | 3. 1965—2019 | 4. 2020.
Panelists will include local historians and experts on Durham history: Part one on July 21 will feature NCCU Archivist Andre Vann; Eileen Watts Welch, president and CEO of the Durham Colored Library Inc.; and educator/historian Eddie Davis. The series will be hosted by author and retired journalist Jim Wise.
Each segment will be a small group conversation, with visuals drawn from existing resources, such as the Durham: A Self-Portrait documentary and the Library’s North Carolina Collection. Viewers may submit questions during the live presentation. Audience participation will be invited and moderated via Zoom chat and Facebook comments sections.
