Posted on November 8, 2021Following the murder of George Floyd on May 25, 2020 by Minneapolis Police, protests in support of the Black Lives Matter movement took place across the country, including in Durham. Protestors held peaceful demonstrations across downtown. Fearing vandalism, many downtown businesses boarded up their storefronts. Local artists used the boards to create murals about justice and racial inequity, creating a spontaneous public art installation.
