The Museum of Durham History sidewalk recently got a little spruced up, courtesy of some enthusiastic volunteers from Wells Fargo bank. We wanted to give people something fun and interactive as they make the walk towards the museum from Main Street. We found inspiration here. And here.  So we decided to put our own spin on it, and now we want passersby join in!

With the help of several branch managers from Durham Wells Fargo banks, who volunteered their time on a blustery January morning, this project became a reality. The team dived right in and grab stencils and non-permanent striping paint to lay out the design created by MoDH volunteer Nathan Jacobsen. As you can see, the octagon design (hey, our gazebo is an octagon. What a coincidence…) runs from Main Street to the gazebo, and will continue to our front door once it’s completed. Look for an additional level of interaction *once the final touches are put on it.*

Hint: This meandering hopscotch will serve as Durhamites’ own personal path, one that not only beautifies our walkway, but will encourage you to make your mark!
