More than sixty friends and family gathered in Solite Park to honor Louis E. Austin, crusading editor/publisher of The Carolina Times from 1927 to 1971.

It was a lively event, with attendees volunteering many personal stories about Louis Austin, a friend, mentor, civic leader and inspiration during more than four transformational decades in Durham.
