Durham voters endorsed Becky Heron for 29 years, consistently voting to “Keep HER ON” the Board of County Commissioners, which she chaired for 13 years, the first woman to do so. Her accessible, straight-talking style made her a beloved public servant. She was a tireless supporter of the Durham County Senior Center and the Durham County Animal Shelter. A staunch environmentalist, she worked for watershed protection, parks, and recreation facilities and always stood with residents in protecting their neighborhoods.
