Back in February, we spent some time with our friends at the Durham County Library piloting our new traveling exhibit L is for Legacy, and extension of The Life and Legacy of Floyd B. McKissick Sr. The pop-up exhibit then made its way to at Hope Valley Elementary School for their Black History Celebration on Feb. 28 (pictured above & below).

150 Faces Traveling Exhibit spent several months at Durham School of the Arts for program assessment and activity development. Durham Public School High School Media Lead and Teacher-Librarian Kimberly Fawks-Gugino led 8th grade students in a round-robin style competition to name a Durham public school from the 150 Durhamites in the exhibit (so cool!). In the final round, a guest panel of Board of Education members named the team representing Blind Boy Fuller the winners of the competition. The 150 Faces Traveling Exhibit was then packed up and had its passport stamped to head a little further south, where it is now taking up residence in the Sherwood Githens Middle School media center (pictured below).

We would like to thank Kimberly Fawks-Gugino and her colleagues at DSA for all of their hard, thoughtful work to maximize the potential of 150 Faces. We love collaborating with teachers, whose input and ingenuity will be incorporated to create digital resources hosted on the MoDH site, and be made available to students, educators, and parents.
