NOVEMBER 10-16, 2013 in Durham, NC
Sunday, November 10 from 3-5 p.m. at Hayti Heritage Center, 804 Old Fayetteville Street: A screening of documentary Change Comes Knocking: The NC Fund with commentary from Fund leaders Howard Fuller, Ann Atwater, and others
Monday, November 11 from 7-9 p.m. at Durham CAARE, 214 Broadway Street: An inter-generational conversation about poverty and activism with Fund leader Howard Fuller
Tuesday, November 12 from 3-6 p.m. at MDC, 307 West Main Street: Back to the Future: Race, Power, and the NC Fund
Dr. Robert Korstad, co-author of To Right These Wrongs: The North Carolina Fund and the Battle to End Poverty and Inequality in 1960s America, leads a conversation with Howard Fuller on the Fund’s move from a focus on service to justice, followed by a panel discussion with community organizers about ways to address institutional barriers currently blocking upward mobility. Saturday, November 16 from 9:30-11 p.m. at Hayti Heritage Center, 804 Old Fayetteville Street: March retracing the route of the 1963 “Silent March” for Justice – – from Hayti Heritage Center to Downtown Durham — The 1963 march by NCCU students and supporters protested segregation. Join us and stand up for justice and opportunity TODAY!
