Welcome to the Museum of Durham History website. You're on the virtual ground floor for a growing collection of information, images and personal accounts that bring Durham's dynamic past to life.
On October 12, 2013, we opened the doors of our first physical space, the Durham History Hub at 500 West Main St. Check out the Grand Opening page to see pictures of the big day and Hub Exhibits for thumbnail descriptions of what's in store for your visit.
The History Hub is open Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-5pm, with extended hours on Thursdays, May-September, and on Third Fridays, April – October. There is no admission fee.
Durham has many great stories to tell, and you'll find some of them on this website. A brief chronology of Durham History is brought to life in Video Stories, which include Personal Narratives and commentary by Tools of the Trade Pop-Up presenters.
By offering an overview of Durham's past, the Hub is a good starting point for exploring. We hope you'll use the Museum's resources, both in-person and online, to discover the people, places, lifestyles and events that create the rich heritage of this unique community.
Thanks for stopping by. Come again soon.
