Parkwood Elementary School
Parkwood Elementary School took the name of its neighborhood, which was developed to afford convenient homes for Research Triangle Park personnel. Parkwood's first homeowners moved in in 1960, the same year that the first building opened in the Park itself.
The school opened seven years later and was remodeled and/or enlarged in 1983, 1989, 1992 and 2005. Currently the school encloses 80,337 square feet designed for a student body of 695. Its campus occupies 22.6 acres.
