Taking its name from the township in which it stands, Oak Grove Elementary opened in 1981 near the site of a Mineral Springs School that appeared on Durham County maps by 1910. Oak Grove has grounds covering almost 16 acres, and its facility encloses 91,500 square feet with an official student capacity of 774. The school has undergone one renovation since opening, in 1993.
