Opened in early 2009, the Durham Station on Pettigrew Street near the American Tobacco complex serves buses of the Durham Area Transit Authority (DATA), Triangle Transit Authority (TTA) and the inter-city Grayhound and Trailways lines.
Previously, DATA and TTA had used an open-air kiosk on the Downtown Loop for a hub, while the commercial bus lines had had a series of inadequate stopping points in and near downtown Durham since the 1980s.
